下坪村位于小江镇西北部，离小江圩镇约13千米，下辖23个村民小组，是镇内的边远革命老区村。全村耕地共7430亩，水田3445亩，旱地3985亩。[1]

革命历史[edit]

1948年7月15日，阳山人民武装起义在下坪村发动，此后每年的这一天成为村里的起义纪念日。村内建有阳山人民武装起义纪念馆（纪念碑），详见小江镇条目。[3]

人口与经济[edit]

2014年底统计：户数1033户，人口4610人，劳动力2421人。农民年人均收入8391元，集体收入18.52万元，经济总收入4237.05万元。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村名来自其所在位置：村子处在田心围下游，地势平坦开阔，当地称之为「坪」。[1]

物产[edit]

该村旱地种植的西洋菜，获国家颁发的生态原产地产品保护证书。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

村的建制几经变动：1940年设保，1952年改设乡政府，1958年改为生产大队，1983年又设乡政府，1987年改为村委会，1989年改为管理区，1999年再改为村委会。另有一次调整：2005年4月，外洞村委会被撤销，划归下坪村委会，此事由县人民政府核准。[1][2]
