东联村是元善镇下辖的行政村，村名由两处旧地名合成。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

东联之名由东家斜、莲塘背两处地名各取一字组合而来。东家斜先前归鹤湖，莲塘背先前归密溪，后分别划出，合并为一村。东与莲二字读音接近联字，遂写作东联。[1]

1999年起设东联村民委员会，至今未变。[1]

东联村在2023年广东省卫生村的名录中，命名日期为2024年3月。[1]
