新江街道是河源市源城区下辖的街道，位于河源老城区的西半部，东邻上城街道，南接源南镇，西面和北面临新丰江。街道办事处设在大桥南路，下辖城南、上角、卫星、城西、龙尾坝、朱门亭6个社区居委会。[1][2]街道在1997年3月由原源城镇拆分而成，名称取自辖区紧靠新丰江。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

街道所在一带南齐永明元年（483年）属河源县。[3]1997年3月，源城镇经省政府批准撤销，改设上城、新江两个街道，新江街道办事处作为源城区政府的派出机构随之成立。[3][4]辖区的6个居委会，多数在1995年已经设立，1997年起归新江街道管辖；卫星居委会在2002年设立，上角居委会则在2002年由原上角与长塘两个居委会合并而成。[5][6][8]

地理环境[edit]

街道在老城的西侧，新丰江从西、北两面绕过。关于辖区面积，博雅地名网和百度百科记作3.7平方千米，源城区政府网站则写作1.87平方千米，两者相差近一倍，本条目并列二说。[1][2][4]政府网站称辖区东到化龙路商业街，南到河中路。[2]

据源城区政府网站，辖区常住约3.46万人，其中有本地户籍的2.98万人。[2]第七次全国人口普查结果为3.58万人，在源城区各街道、镇中居第6位。[3]百度百科另记2020年末常住人口3.8万人。[1]

经济与公共设施[edit]

街道是河源传统的商贸区。区政府网站称，辖区里的大型农贸市场有6个，中心市场和城南市场是其中两个；街区由此形成了沿江餐饮、小商品批发和农副产品集散三类商圈。[2]博雅地名网所录的街道概况写作7个农贸市场，商业设施有友谊商场、好万家电器城，酒店中有汇豪国际等星级酒店。[4]交通方面，市汽车总站和源城汽车客运站设在辖区内，205国道穿过街道。[2][4]

街道先后获得广东省文明单位、教育强镇（街）、体育工作先进街道等称号，还被河源市、源城区评为先进基层党组织。[4]

百度百科把九重门公园列为街道的景点；城西社区的辖区范围北到九重门公园，卫星社区东界为西门塘公园的环城西路。[1][6][7]
