陶塘社区是陶河镇人民政府所在的社区，处在镇域中部：东连陶东村，西接陶西村，北边隔着陶北村，南边是陶塘山林地。[1]

名称与沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，嘉庆初年这里开设了都塘圩；当地出产陶器很多，旧时又把商埠叫作「塘」，圩名由此而来，后写作陶塘。[2]到嘉庆年间圩市最旺时，已有「三街二巷」的布局，四面合围，俗称「棋盘内」。[3]

20世纪后半叶的变动：1958年属群联大队，1962年用都塘墟设陶塘居委会，翌年并入陶东大队，1987年5月陶塘居委会与陶东村委会各自独立，2004年又定名陶塘居委会。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

镇政府资料记，社区约有1200户4000人登记户籍、约380户1700人常住；耕地1061亩，林地1720亩，其中水稻田约700亩，今后想引入新型经营主体并发展加工、商贸。[1]博雅地名网另记，社区在改革开放后兴起了纺织、珍珠和宝石加工，规模以上企业有3家。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，社区列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单；2021年12月，获广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予的「2021年广东省卫生村」。[2]
