下边村是陶河镇西部的行政村，离镇政府约3公里，西北邻附城镇，自然村有上边、下边两个。[1]
沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，下边村于明正德年间立村。新中国成立初期属六区陶河乡，1953年归龙山区虾西乡；1962年，下边、上边和后来迁走的山脚三个自然村从虾西大队分出，成立下边大队，次年复归虾西，1974年才再度独立。[2]1984年改乡，1987年建镇后称村委会，1989年一度叫管理区办事处，1998年复设村委会。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
约380户1700人有户籍，约90户270人常住；耕地共1812亩，其中水田1567亩，稻田约1500亩。村里试行「企业+村组+农户」的水稻经营办法；镇政府的简介又说，下边村把资源折价入股企业，集体每年因此增收。[1][4]
人物[edit]
镇政府的历史概述提到，下边乡农会长黄如炉在革命中牺牲，下边也是当年的联络点之一。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2021年12月，该村得名「2021年广东省卫生村」；2022年8月，被确定为「2022年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」的创建单位。[2]
