村名与沿革[edit]
博雅地名网的说法是：明嘉靖年间，潮州府潮阳县李头乡有人先迁到可塘的雷打石村，再转到这里建了埔仔村。解放初期村民觉得「埔仔」不雅，改用闽南语里读音相近的「步雅」作村名。[2]此地在清乾隆年间属金锡乡杨古埔，1958年设步雅大队，1984年改乡，1987年起为村委会。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
约350户1600人有户籍，约82户260人常住；总面积约253.6公顷，耕地1250亩。稻田约1700亩，莲藕约250亩；村里还有「渔光互补」光伏项目。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2021年12月，该村得名「2021年广东省卫生村」；2022年1月，又被广东省乡村振兴局列为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」的创建单位。[2]
