据博雅地名网，村在石马陶厂的背后，故称陶背。[1]晚近的一次变更是1999年改称陶背村委会；此前依次为称陶背乡，1984年建乡，1981年时为陶洞大队。[1]

荣誉[edit]

  • 名列广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，名单2019年9月公布。[1]
  • 2023年5月，省爱卫会认定它为2022年度「广东省卫生村」。[1]
