沙坪村属兴宁市永和镇。村边有兴江河流过，河道曲折，旧时常决堤，冲出不少沙丘与潭角，被叫作“沙潭”；治水之后沙潭变为沙坪，村名由此而来。[1]

建置沿革[edit]

先称沙坪大队（1963年，归石陂管理区直接管辖），再称沙坪乡（1983年），1999年起为沙坪村委会，名称未再改动。[1]

荣誉[edit]

首批「广东省卫生村」之一（2017年10月授予）。[1]2019年9月公布的2018年度名单上，该村为「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]另在2026年3月被认定为第三批「广东省“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
