新光村是兴宁市刁坊镇的行政村，在镇政府东面约3公里，辖22个村民小组，600户、2598人，面积约2.5平方公里，耕地1005亩[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立前这里叫文祠村；1951年至1957年归大桥乡，其后另立大队，取光明之意，称新光[1]。1961年至1983年为新光大队，1984年至1987年为新光乡，1987年起称新光村，1989年起改作管理区，1999年称村委会[1]。

经济[edit]

村里种水稻，纺织是特色收入之一，据记载该年全村农村经济总收入2500万元；2019年9月，列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单[1]。
