尖坑村位于蕉岭县新铺镇，是抗日名将谢晋元的家乡，谢晋元故居、谢晋元纪念馆和中共蕉岭县委第一次代表会旧址都在村内。[1][2][3][4][5]

村名由来[edit]

村原名沾坑村，村里有黄、宋、陈、曹、曾等姓。五百多年前，梅县白渡珠坑头的谢景生夫妇迁来开荒建房，自觉是被「挤」进来的，客家话中「挤」与「尖」同音，村名便改成尖坑。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

崇祯六年（1633）属蓼陂乡；1921年归同福乡，分上尖坑、下尖坑；1952年立尖坑乡；1958年为尖坑生产大队；1983年为新铺区尖坑乡；1987年称尖坑村。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

谢晋元故居在园墩子下方塘子，清咸丰年间由其曾祖父所建，三幢并联、有「儒林第」「荆树居」两座门楼，1998年县政府出资赎回流散房屋整修；百度百科记其为第七批全国重点文物保护单位。谢晋元纪念馆在故居以东约100米，2001年7月开馆，同年被列为县级文物保护单位。中共蕉岭县第一次代表会于1927年12月在村中上赖屋赖汉文家召开，选出7人组成的县委，徐持任书记，旧址2014年列为县级文物保护单位。[2][3][4][5]

全村23个村民小组，606户、2265人（村情材料未注年份），面积5.72平方公里，耕地1940亩，种甘蔗与水稻。[1]
