村位于大坪全镇的中心，故称平中。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
沿革与全镇大体一致：清末在大坪堡内，新中国成立初隶梅西区，先后经大坪乡、梅西人民公社，至1960年改隶新设的大坪人民公社，1983年划入梅县市大坪区公所，1988年设平中管理区，1999年改称平中村民委员会。[1]
