新东村是广东省梅州市梅县区石扇镇的行政村，开国中将肖向荣的故居在村内。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

村由蕉东大队的蕉林坑、东山下两个自然村，与银钱大队的新田上合并而成，因此得名。明代属程乡县龟浆都石扇村，清代属程乡县石扇堡，民国三十年（1941年）属梅县石扇乡。1964年前隶属石扇公社银钱大队，此后设新东大队；此后1989年称管理区，1999年改称村民委员会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

肖向荣故居又称萧向荣故居、双桂楼，始建于清乾隆二十二年（1757年），三堂四横一围屋式，占地3550平方米左右，另有约4020平方米的建筑面积，由堂屋、横屋、围屋、门楼、门坪和门坪外的半月形池塘组成。[2][3]此后它先于2015年2月5日列入「第三批梅州市文物保护单位」，又于2022年7月23日升为「第十批广东省文物保护单位」。[1][2]博雅地名网记，2021年起石扇镇投入约480万元修缮故居，并改善周边环境。[3]

肖向荣（1910年—1976年）生于石扇乡新田村，原名萧木元，中国人民解放军中将。[4]
