新东村原名鹿境乡后廊村，在鹿境山东侧，位于黄江与丽江之间，属海丰县附城镇，古时隶兴贤都。村中蔡姓聚居，附近有蔡氏宗祠“车地”。[1]
历史[edit]
村材料称建于宋绍定年间（约1230年）。传说明万历年间海丰饥荒，先祖蔡卜万出财协助知县救灾，并组织民团上京，打赢了反对开采银瓶山银矿的官司。[1]
文化[edit]
蔡氏宗祠为四合院式建筑，一厅四房，面向南海，明清两代出过不少举人贡生。村民每年农历正月初十设宴迎客，初八、初九起连演大戏；龙舟赛也多次夺得县龙舟联谊锦标赛冠亚军。[1]
鹿境山又名金龙山、红花山；“丽江月色”被列为海丰八景之一。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2024年4月，新东村入选汕尾市“百千万工程”典型村。[2]
