怀新村属广东省茂名市信宜市怀乡镇，位于镇域南部，是镇下辖的24个行政村之一。[1]据博雅地名网所载，村内设30个村民小组，登记652户、共2868人，村域面积5.5平方千米，耕地约721亩。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

这一带原属怀乡乡，因怀乡乡过大，从中分出另立，取名怀新。[2]

民国年间隶怀乡乡的茂田、横石两个小乡；1953年两乡合并为怀新乡；1958年改编为怀新大队。此后乡政府、管理区办事处等名称几度更替，1999年起定称怀新村民委员会。[1]

  • 2021年12月，经广东省爱卫会评定为「2021年广东省卫生村」。[1]

村里种植水稻、木薯、玉米，副业和特色产业有竹器编织、三黄鸡、木薯；据博雅地名网，上一年全村经济总收入约952万元（年份未注明）。[1]
