大威村是信宜市怀乡镇所辖的行政村，在镇域西南部。[1]据博雅地名网所载，村内设27个村民小组，登记485户、共2260人，村域面积4.5平方千米，耕地约460亩。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村原名大西垌，因聚落在怀乡垌的西面；后来村里有位名叫容大威的人德高望重，名声很大，村名遂改为大威。[2]

中华人民共和国成立前，这里是怀乡二运乡的第十二堡，1953年与横埇并成大西垌大队，1958年两地分开，另设大威大队。此后乡政府、管理区办事处等名称几度更替，1999年起定称大威村民委员会。[1]

  • 2021年9月，广东省农业农村厅公布的第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单，大威村以怀乡鸡入选。[1]

经济[edit]

村里种植水稻、玉米、木薯，副业和特色产业有竹器编织、五金制造、三黄鸡、塘鱼；据博雅地名网，上一年全村经济总收入约502万元（年份未注明）。[1]

村里以五金制造见长，近年多业并举，据称有种果大户约10户、养殖大户2户，毛纺织厂1家。[1]
