社区以驻地命名：居委会设在中垌圩的中心，所以叫中垌居委会。[1]它成立于1995年，1999年改称中垌居委会，2003年经化州市人民政府规范更名为中垌居民委员会，2017年又改称中垌社区居民委员会。[1]

经济[edit]

据该站，社区的主要经济作物有水稻、花生和蔬菜，特色收入来自蔬菜、瓜果，上一年（未注明年份）农村经济总收入2760万元；近年重点是发展「三高」农业和养殖业、招商引资，并扩大北运菜种植基地。[1]
