中垌镇是广东省茂名市化州市中部的一个镇，下辖中垌、兰山2个社区和30个行政村，镇域面积263.23平方千米，2019年末户籍人口124413人。[1]据博雅地名网，它是化州市面积最大的镇，与广东、广西两省区的多个市县乡镇及农场接壤。[2][3]镇名来自镇内的中垌圩，2003年兰山镇并入后，在原地设兰山办事处。[1][4][5]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，圩名中垌始建于明代，当时圩上居民以钟、董两姓为主，圩被叫作钟董圩，后来因读音相近写成中垌圩，镇名即由圩名而来。[5]

1932年（民国二十一年），化县第四区下有中垌、田头、高峰、孔化几个乡；1942年，这一带又分别划给第一区的官桥乡和第二区的林尘乡。[4]1949年11月成立化县中区，区公所设于中垌塘村，下辖13个乡，其范围覆盖今林尘、官桥、中垌、江湖、合江五镇。[4]次年3月改为化县四区，区公所仍在中垌塘村，管6个乡（山底、孔化、塘蓬、田丰、高中、钱石）；到1953年又设化县八区，区政府驻中垌圩，所辖12乡含杨村、那洪、公居、中垌、兰山、塘灶、丰村、东京塘、山口等。[4]1957年撤销区一级，合并成4个乡，即兰山、公居、山口和中垌。[4]

1958年9月，这些乡联合建成中垌人民公社，官桥乡与国营和平农场也编入其中；1959年10月官桥公社和和平农场分出。[4]1961年撤公社改设中垌区，兰山人民公社自其中分出；1963年1月区改回中垌人民公社；1983年10月改回中垌区；1987年2月，区撤销，中垌镇成立。[4]到2003年，兰山镇划入本镇，原地设兰山办事处。[1][4]

地形以低丘陵为主，在化州市的中部。[3]据百度百科，它与广东、广西两省区的化州、廉江、陆川三个市县交界，毗邻新安、官桥、林尘、合江、古城、石角、河唇七个镇，以及和平、红阳、廉江红湖三个农场。[1]博雅地名网另载，鹤地、茶了根、三合、响水、长湾河共五座水库分布在镇内。[3]当地的矿产包括石灰石、云母、高岭土、硫铁矿和花岗岩石。[3]

据博雅地名网，梅石线从镇域穿过，镇通村水泥路有42公里，中垌圩是周边地区的商贸中心。[3]农业方面有省里认证的无公害「一乡一品」红杨桃，荔枝则有黑叶、国福、白腊、白糖罂、蜜糖罂等品种；中垌猪是省内的地方良种猪之一，铁锅和豆豉是传统产品。[3]镇上建有千亩工业园区，已形成的工业门类有手套、橡胶、皮革和玻璃制品，竹器编织，木材加工，矿石采掘以及水泥建材。[3]

据百度百科，2019年全镇规模以上工业总产值28703万元，比上年增长5.03%，增加值9423万元。[1]杨充、孔化、那洪等村的博雅地名网页面均提到海螺水泥项目的专家生活区或矿区设在当地。[6]

名胜古迹[edit]

百度百科把冼太庙、百年古榕、文化长廊和水库景观列为镇内景点；博雅地名网还提到一株形似铜墙铁壁的奇榕。[1][3]西村村高枨村的承轩黄公祠建于清末民初，杨村村外垌村的蓉镜庄建于民国十八年（1929年），两处都是化州市第四批县级文物保护单位。[7][8]
