1953年设横山乡，其后历经3次易名，1999年设横山村委会，延续至今[1]。

人口与经济[edit]

据博雅地名网，横山村下设村民小组11个，户籍登记1450户、6500人，总面积6平方千米，耕地2850亩[1]。另有表彰：2019年9月，列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位；2023年5月，获2022年省卫生村；广东省农业农村厅于2022年10月认定其为「2022年广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」，品类为海蜇皮[1]。
