历史[edit]
据博雅地名网，芷寮街在宋元明清年间有铺户近千家，闽粤商船云集，号称粤西最大的商埠，有“金芷寮、银赤坎”之说。宋末，商、陈两姓从福建莆田来此经商，搭寮造纸，街因此得名纸寮街，后写作芷寮。[1]芷寮港兴起于元末，明代最盛，清代衰落。[2]
人口经济[edit]
共588户、2876人，耕地1466亩，种水稻、花生、香蕉、蔬菜，林地922亩，多为木麻黄和湿地松；出产沙螺、青蟹、米蟹。部分村民捕捞、运输、建筑或经商。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1957年桥头区组建，芷寮属其辖区；1960年芷寮单独设大队，1986年改乡，1992年称管区，1999年改为村委会。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月被列为「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」；2021年1月入选「湛江市2020年度全市文明村」；2026年3月被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]
