霞街社区在吴阳镇镇区西南约0.5公里处，面积约3平方公里，2002年设居民委员会。清代状元林召棠出生于此。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1952年霞街被划成两块：上半归街道居委会，下半（拱门）归白沙村委会。到2002年，经吴川市政府批准，两块重新并为霞街居委会。[1]

人口经济[edit]

社区耕地1037亩，常住人口4328人，设六个居民小组；居民从事农业、养殖、经商、建筑和捕鱼。[1]

文化[edit]

吴阳中心小学创办于1943年，最初叫霞街培秀学校，是吴川县的首所私立学校。据博雅地名网，自宋代以来社区共出过十六名举人、四名进士和一位状元。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

林召棠故居在拱门巷，是一座砖木结构平房，旁边建有林召棠纪念馆和状元牌坊，并有林氏大宗祠；保护级别上，1983年先由县政府列为县级保护，到2019年升格，成为省级的文保单位。[2][3]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，霞街社区被列为「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」；2022年1月被确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村创建单位」；2023年11月入选「广东百千万工程首批典型县镇村」；2024年4月进入「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村」创建名单。[1]
