河东社区在大山江街道东部，与海滨街道相邻，离吴川市区约3公里，新旧325国道穿过全境，面积2.52平方千米，下设3个居民小组[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

名称取自它在博茂减洪河以东的位置[1]。这里1958年属黄竹尾大队，1976年随之称黄竹尾乡；1997年吴川撤县建市，社区从黄竹尾乡划出独立，设河东村委会，2004年起为居委会，延续至今[1]。

经济与社会[edit]

社区耕地600多亩，鱼塘45亩，有民营企业40多家；2007年全社区工业总产值为1.8亿元，农业总产值200万元[1]。城东中学是街道仅有的初级中学，校址在社区内，社区还有2所完全小学；那孔和良发两个居民小组各建有文化楼，良发村在2006年获评文明村[1]。2019年9月，社区进入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单；2026年3月又被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」[1]。
