2004年，全村986户4960人，耕地8983亩，农业总产值2386万元；有小学8所。[1]

沿革与荣誉[edit]

木棉大队设于1958年，先后两度（1961年、1982年）与青安大队合二为一，合并后沿用木棉之名，1984年起称木棉乡。[1]2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2023年5月，木棉、槟榔园、那泗、那宋四村获评2022年广东省卫生村；2026年1月获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
