莫村村是龙头镇下辖的行政村，2019年常住人口6700多人，村中有莫氏大宗祠，“咱村铺仔”是坡头区的示范点[2][3]。2023年11月入选「广东“百千万工程”首批典型县镇村」，2024年4月进入广东省第一批「乡村振兴示范村」创建名单[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立初期，莫村属吴川县第七区龙头乡；1956年设莫村大队，1958年归龙头公社[1]。1983年改称莫村乡，隶龙头区公所；1987年为村委会，1989年起称莫村管理区，到1999年成立莫村村民委员会，沿用至今[1]。泉井村1999年从莫村分出，另设村民委员会[1]。

经济与建设[edit]

2019年湛江国家高新区在莫村选址，村里用20多天完成378亩土地征收，被称为“龙头速度”；西头村村民小组提供了湛江湾实验室所需的大部分用地[2]。同年的报道说，村里共出资100多万元，清拆乱搭乱建和违建180余处、清运垃圾6162余吨，在全镇率先完成“三清三拆三整治”[2]。

文化[edit]

莫村是革命老区。村中的莫氏大宗祠内设莫族历史博物馆和抗法、抗日、解放战争纪念馆，被选为湛江市爱国主义教育基地；近年重阳节，村里办敬老“千叟宴”，参加的60岁以上老人近千人[2]。2023年的《人民日报》报道里，莫村的“咱村铺仔”设在村民广场旁，是村民议事的地方，坡头区还在这里设了“广东省名中医服务农村诊室”[3]。

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，莫村村名列2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位；2024年1月确定为2023年的省级示范村（社区）[1]。
