龙头村是龙头镇下辖的行政村，属镇乡结合区，村名取自驻地北岭顶上一块形如龙头的巨石^[1]。2022年9月认定为「2022年湛江市文明村」，2026年1月获评广东省第二批「“百千万工程”典型村」^[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

新中国成立初期，这里称东所乡，属吴川县第七区；1958年设东所大队，归龙头公社^[1]。1983年东所大队改为龙头小镇，隶龙头区公所；1987年设龙头村民委员会^[1]。1989年，龙头圩内的居民划出，另设居民委员会；同年10月起称龙头管理区；1999年又成立龙头村民委员会，沿用至今^[1]。

龙头村于2019年9月名列2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位^[1]。
