下沙村是宅梧镇西北部的行政村，位于宅更线沿线，紧邻青年水库，村委会距镇政府约5.6公里。因处在沙水河下游而名“下沙”，总面积19.6平方千米。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

村下的13条自然村为榄根、竹边、西水岗、提山、马潭、牛塘、上佃、下佃、北塘、佐塘、新村、布吕、华村，户籍人口4000多人。耕地中水田4042亩、旱地875亩，水稻之外多种节瓜、苦瓜、茄子、木瓜、荷兰豆；村里还设有蔬菜示范基地和农产品市场。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代属鹤山县双桥都，民国属第四区；1954年称下沙乡，1958年为宅梧公社下沙大队，1986年称下沙管理区，1998年改为下沙村民委员会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

云宿山古寨遗址在云宿山顶，处于下沙村与双合镇泗合村的交界上，为明代遗址，列入第六批文物保护单位，公布日期为2021年5月11日。[1]

荣誉[edit]

榄根村曾评上2009年度的江门市卫生村。2023年5月，西水岗、牛塘、马潭三村获评2022年度省卫生村；下沙村本身在2024年3月被命名为2023年度省卫生村。[1]
