月桂社区是广东省佛山市三水区西南街道下辖的社区，居委会在环城路9号，由月桂、宝南、东岸三个居委会在2005年合并而成，其前身是西南镇郊管理区。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

镇郊农业社在1957年吸收月桂、东岸两个自然村，当时归高丰乡；次年后岗、九腩洲也加入。1959年农业社改隶西南镇，建西南镇郊公社，下设镇郊、沙头、桥头大队。1961年镇郊大队分为岗根、新沙、月桂三个大队，1963年又合并复称镇郊大队，同年镇郊公社撤销，辖区分别并入高丰公社和西南镇。[3]

1972年9月，原东风公社镇郊大队的十个生产队划归西南镇，统称西南镇镇郊大队；沙头、九腩洲、新沙三村则划出，由高丰公社管理。1984年改称西南镇郊管理区，1988年4月十个生产队撤销，村民转为城镇人口。2005年2月，西南街道撤销城区8个管理区、设18个居委会，西南镇郊管理区更名月桂社区居委会。[3]

地理与人口[edit]

社区东北至广海大道，南到环城路，西至赤岗路和同福路，面积2.2平方公里；社区简介称在册居民为5295户，常住16696人。区内有多个区级机关，以及镇中心小学、健力宝厂等。[4]

2019年9月公布的「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单中有该社区。[1]
