南区社区属广东省佛山市顺德区容桂街道，位于街道东南，邻近广珠路与碧桂路，桂洲大道穿过辖区，面积约1.8平方千米[1][2]。它原是新地乡的南区，因此得名[3]。

历史沿革[edit]

1952年归新地乡管，次年立南区乡。1958年南区、中区并作南区大队，1979年两处分开，南区另立大队；其后1983年改乡，1987年改村，到1989年成了南区管理区；1998年设村委会，2001年改居委会[1]。

人口与经济[edit]

村情说，社区分坝头、英聚、停埠、合胜4个居民小组，常住3100多人，流动人口8000多[2]。撤村改居后投入2000多万元改造面貌、整治河涌；先后引进企业130多家、商户200多家，开发工业用地700多亩；曾得「广东省卫生村」「顺德区文明社区」等荣誉[2]。
