海尾社区属广东省佛山市顺德区容桂街道，位于街道南面，面积约3平方千米，西邻细滘与红星，东接容边，北接南区[1][2]。因处在容奇、桂洲堤围的最下游，故名海尾[3]。

历史沿革[edit]

1958年立海尾大队；1983年改乡，1987年改村，1989年称海尾管理区；1998年撤区建村，设海尾村民委员会。2001年改称居民委员会，2003年定名海尾社区居民委员会，沿用至今[1]。

地名由来[edit]

此地在容奇、桂洲堤围的最下方，曾叫桂洲海尾，后简称海尾[3]。

经济与民俗[edit]

村情说，辖区有企业286家、商铺400多家，分三片聚居，共1406户，常住5878人，流动人口约1.3万[2]。2008年，社区工商业总产值29亿元，上缴税收1.6亿元，股民人均全年股红约5000元[2]。海尾大涌两岸每年端午办龙舟大汇游[2]。
