历史沿革[edit]
此地原有永丰、桂新两区，1955年并为永桂区，1967年更名卫红区革命委员会。1987年按容奇镇统一规划改称卫红管理区，1990年再改卫红街道办事处；两镇于2000年3月合并后，办事处冠以“容桂镇”之名；2002年3月容桂撤镇建区，才以卫红居委会为名[1]。
古街巷[edit]
村情称，清光绪年间所建的容桂公所直街（今容桂直街）是容桂的老街巷之一；旧时以行业命名的街巷有杉街、打铁街、竹器街、果栏街，另存清代碑亭和李家祠[2]。维基百科则记直街上“容桂公所”石匾立于咸丰六年（1856年），与村情的年代说法有差异[3]。
社区生活[edit]
村情称社区常住居民12800多人，流动人口5000多；社区借“平乐楼”举办文体活动，每年办「卫红杯」粤港澳门球邀请赛，曾获「广东省文明社区」「广东省城市体育先进社区」等荣誉[2]。
