太平社区由太平村改设，位于大沥镇西南部，全村6.9平方公里，九个自然村为雷边、九潭、水边、西村、白界、北海、冲表、石步、草塘，共25个村民小组。[1]

地理环境[edit]

东与凤池、钟边为邻，南接曹边，西连潭边，北靠高边，325国道、平潭路、凤兴路经过。[1]

人口民族[edit]

常住约七千五百人，流动人口逾一万；辖区内有太平成远小学、太平幼儿园和许海中学。[1]

经济[edit]

主要农产品为育鹅；工业企业有建宝铝厂、华鸿铜板厂、永丰不锈钢制品厂等。村、组两级2009年的纯收入共6478万元。[1]

2003年12月，太平村获「广东省卫生村」称号。2009年，市场、幼儿园、学校、公园和重建的太平牌坊等周边环境得到改造。[1]
