茅田村属广州市增城区中新镇，是镇辖的行政村。博雅地名网所载村情记其面积7.5平方千米，耕地约2800亩，户籍人口2150人（410户），下辖13个自然村、13个村民小组。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

开村时四周茅草丛生，后来逐步垦为良田，故名“茅田”。[1]

村民于元大德年间（约1300年）建村。茅田村的集体组织始于1956年成立的茅田高级农业生产合作社。两年后实行人民公社化，村隶属中新公社，当时的生产大队叫茅田大队；1959年福和从中新公社划出，村随之改属福和公社。1983年公社改区，大队改称乡，1987年撤乡设村、成立村民委员会，仍归福和镇管辖，2004年福和镇并入中新镇后改属中新镇。[1]

经济与设施[edit]

村民以荔枝、龙眼、杨桃、香蕉、蔬菜、甘蔗和稻谷等农副产品为生，杨桃是村里的品牌；村内有一座500平方米的农贸市场。[1]

茅田村以茅田杨桃入选广东省农业农村厅2020年8月公布的首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单。[1]
