红湖村在万顷沙镇十一涌西涌口，东临万环西路，西靠洪奇沥，辖区面积1930亩，曾是农渔结合的村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

红湖所在的滩地，民国时期开始成田，1949年后又增围一部分沙坦。[1]

村的前身是1956年成立的沙尾水产渔业组，1958年10月迁来此地定居；1972年起称红湖渔业大队。1984年3月，与红港村一起编为新垦区一乡，1987年3月独立，成立村民委员会。2002年起随新垦镇并入万顷沙镇，2005年10月起属南沙区。[1]

村名因前身是洪湖渔业大队而来。[1]

经济[edit]

2008年全村202户，户籍人口824人，耕地140亩。部分村民种地、部分捕鱼；随渔业资源减少，渔民逐步转产，村里只剩约40艘渔船出海。[1]

2024年11月，获「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」认定。[1]
