民立村在万顷沙镇三民岛的最南端，四面环江，东临洪奇沥，西与中山市相邻。三民岛又名沥心沙岛，由民建、民兴、民立三村组成。^[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清末，村民在这里开垦八顷围，随后又围出十六顷围、同安围和团结围；团结大队原为独立建制，1976年归入民立大队，成为其第十、十一、十三生产队。^[1]

「民立」之名定于1953年。1958年起与民建、民兴同编沥心沙大队，1959年归番禺县，1961年10月单设民立大队，1984年成乡，1987年成立村民委员会，2005年10月后属南沙区。^[1]

村名含「为人民立家园」之意。^[1]

村地全由滩涂围垦而成，属沙田为主的出海口冲积平原。1990年代村里种植的香蕉销往国内外，村内设有香蕉市场；现以大蕉、番石榴、木瓜、蔬菜和鱼塘养殖为主。据该页所载，2011年村工农业总产值约3200万元，农民人均年收入5000元。^[1]

2024年11月，获「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」认定；2026年1月，获评「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。^[1]
