平岭头村在炭步镇北部，北临赤坭镇，西、南两面接水口村，东临巴江河，面积约2平方千米，下辖4个村民小组。[1]清康熙年间，村民从水口村迁来，在山旁建村，村名即由所处的平岭头而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

平岭头村1987年设村委会，隶属炭步区公所，同年3月转隶炭步镇人民政府；2004年1月1日，村委会迁入原平岭头小学办公。[1]

姓氏宗族[edit]

搜狐号文章指出，村内平岭人民会堂与水口村同宗，祠堂大门对联有「源同水口，枝发岭头」之句。[2]

经济[edit]

农业以农作物、水稻、蔬菜和水产养殖为主，工业主要是石灰厂。2023年5月，平岭头村获2022年广东省卫生村称号。[1]
