上塘村是甘棠镇下辖的村庄，位于镇区西北一带，属于村庄类城乡分类。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村子原名「彭溪头」。后来村边修筑了塘堤，村落位于塘堤上方，遂改称上塘。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清两代，村址隶属秦溪乡沿江里的二十八都。民国时期先后归南塘乡、三塘乡和三塘镇；1946年并入港边，组成港塘保。1950年，港塘保改为村，归甘棠区南塘乡管辖。1958年设立生产大队，1966年曾与港边合组，1979年重新分立，1984年改设上塘村民委员会。[2]

荣誉[edit]

本村于2024年1月获评「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
