历史沿革[edit]

地名来自村址的土色与住处：村子坐落在山坑之中，土壤呈红色，村民聚居于山岭的背面，因而称为赤岭背。[1]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名本村为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2021年8月，本村入选连城县第十四届县级文明村镇（社区）。[1]
