东头村位于漳州市龙海区程溪镇，是镇内的一个行政村，村名经过一次改名而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

旧时村民多为租地耕种的佃农，常在冬尾缺粮，因而盼望冬头有收成，故初名冬头。解放后土地归农户自有，“冬”与“东”同音，遂改名东头。[1]

旧属南靖县龙园乡东头保；新中国成立初为南靖县第六区东头乡。1957年改属龙溪县，公社时期为程溪公社东头大队，1960年并县后仍属程溪公社。1984年为程溪乡东头村委会，1988年改为程溪镇东头村委会。[1]
