历史沿革[edit]
区村早年的名称是松岭：1958年为松岭大队，1984年为松岭乡，1986年起称区村，1989年为管理区，1998年10月9日恩平市政府批准设区村村民委员会[1]。
人口经济[edit]
全村总人口2490人、695户，总面积3900亩，耕地1900亩[1]。村集体收入来自鱼塘和旧办公楼出租等；竹围、永义庄两村把田出租给农户种香蕉，山爪村出租机动田种玉米[1]。2015年3月，司法部和民政部表彰区村为「第六批全国民主法治示范村（社区）」[1]。

恩平方言研究资料记载，沙咀村讲岑洞话[3]。
名胜古迹[edit]
云亭书室在西头村，建于清咸丰元年（1851年），出资人是在国外发迹的何姓兄弟勤佐、勤杰，目的是让后辈安心读书，民国十八年（1929年）重修[1]。江门市文物保护单位名录把它列为2012年1月公布的第五批市（县）级古建筑[2]。
