坑头村是八字桥乡的行政村，博雅地名网称其为乡内第二大行政村。村子位于乡境西部，在玳瑁山脚下，与大田县广平镇接壤，南邻下畲村，北接黄龙村，东去乡政府的路程约5千米。[1][2]

村名与地形有关：村中山坑众多，当地人形容这里沟坑极多，故名坑头。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

坑头先是尤溪一都的一部分，解放初改属尤溪县第八区。1958年设坑头大队，划归管前公社管理；1979年11月改属八字桥公社，1984年才定名坑头村。[1][3]

姓氏与人文[edit]

村中有余、罗、肖、高等姓氏，以余姓人口最多。余氏始祖于明朝永乐年间自大田县广平镇的石室迁入，此后已繁衍二十六代。[2]

明清两代，村中共考中秀才10人。解放后有五名干部担任副处级职务。[2]

余氏祖祠始建于民国年间的1915年，为六单元三层木结构楼房，保存比较完好。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

龙峰院自然村的灵峰寺，正堂梁柱宏大，年代久远，具有历史价值；村西的白鹤寺历史悠久，交通便利。[2]

村内的红豆杉和楠木较为多见，其中一株红豆杉被称为「尤溪红豆杉大王」。[2]

荣誉称号[edit]

2022年10月，坑头村被福建省农业农村厅认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]

2024年7月，坑头村被命名为「2023年度三明市达标六无村（社区）」，同月又被确定为「2021-2023年三明市达标六无村（社区）」。[1]
