东头村处在梅仙镇西部一带，离镇政府28公里，海拔740米，属于镇内的高山村。[1][2]

村东与蕉坑村相邻，西与东坪村、倒排岩接壤，南与西城镇的东村、上源村相接，北与双峰村毗邻。[1]

村内有11个村民小组，189户768人（据博雅地名网所载，未注年份）。[1]

全村约有5000多亩毛竹林，每人平均约7亩竹山。各片竹林有林区道路相通，毛竹可以车运，不必再靠肩扛。[1]
