上塘社区是内厝镇的镇中心区，镇政府驻地，福厦公路穿村而过，也是镇里的政治、经济与文化中心。社区内共有五个自然村，依次是上塘、西塘、内厝、顶内田和蔡厝口。博雅地名网记全村总人口3118人、872户。[1]

地名与沿革[edit]

村中原有两口池塘，东边的称上塘，西边的叫西塘，因村子靠近上塘，遂以此命名。[2]

清代属民安里，民国时属民石乡。1950年设西塘乡，1980年改称上塘大队，1984年为内厝乡上塘村委会，1991年随乡改镇。2003年划归翔安区，2005年1月改制为社区。[3]

荣誉[edit]

福建省爱国卫生运动委员会在2022年12月把上塘社区评定为「2022年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
