西门村是透堡镇下辖的行政村，位于镇区西侧。村名与明代的城堡有关：为防倭寇侵扰，分散的村落被集中建成城堡，此村位于城堡西边。[1]

村内的棋盘堂是辛亥革命时期光复会的活动地。黄花岗七十二烈士中，有黄忠炳与王灿登两位出自本村。[1][2]

沿革[edit]

1958年前后此地属马鼻公社，为其中的西门大队。1984年，马鼻乡在此设西门村民委员会。1990年，本村与马鼻其余7个村分出，组成透堡乡；1992年改为透堡镇，此后属透堡镇管辖。[1]
