西门社区是汕头市澄海区澄华街道的社区，位于旧县城城垣西门之外，名称由此而来。社区前身为西门村，常住人口8000多人。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

相传南宋时潮州府在此设辟望司，这里是辟望港的一处码头，原称庄厝码头，最早住着庄、马、许等姓，以装卸货物为生。后来福建莆田籍进士、潮州刺史蔡规甫退休后来此定居，子孙繁衍，与陈、吴、李等十多个姓氏聚居成村。[2] 明嘉靖四十二年（1563年）置澄海县后属下外莆都，1912年称西社；1945年与岭亭村合称城南镇，1949年析出，称西门村，属城关镇。[1][2] 1996年归属澄华街道。[2]

据博雅地名网转录的社区简介，辖区有工商业户近2000家，奥飞动漫、骅威玩具、实丰玩具等企业设于此，2009年工商业总产值16.5亿元。[2]

文化[edit]

社区简介提到当地有醒狮舞、龙虾舞、龙凤舞等文娱活动，以及列入国家级非物质文化遗产的蚝蛤舞（原文作「娱蛤舞」）。[2] 2015年3月，西门社区被司法部、民政部评为第六批全国民主法治示范村（社区）。[1]
