东瑶村是佗城镇的行政村，村内砖瓦窑多，是第五届全国文明村镇，也是东山寺所在地。[1]
地名与沿革[edit]
村里烧制砖瓦的历史悠久、窑多，村名由此而来。1953年属瑶涧乡，1957年后归佗东管区，1963年析出东瑶大队，1983年以后与梅村并成东梅乡，其后1987年设村委会，1989年称管理区，1999年定为村民委员会。[1]
荣誉[edit]
东瑶村是第五届全国文明村镇，由中央文明委在2017年11月决定授予。广东省乡村振兴局于2022年1月将它列为乡村治理示范村的创建单位（2021年度），同年8月它又进入民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位之列。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
东山寺背靠东山岭，面朝东江，据百度百科始建于隋大业七年（611年）；南宋景定元年（1260年）寺中设过三沙书院，吴潜曾在此讲学；寺院在1960年被暴风雨摧毁，上世纪八十年代当地民众出资在原址复建。[2]“东山暮钟”是龙川八景之一。[2]村内的东瑶古窑址为2010年8月公布的县级文物保护单位。[3]
