这里的居民多姓黄，名称又寄托了对幸福生活的期望。[1]
1949年设黄福乡，1958年改为黄福大队，1983年称黄福乡政府，1989年成为黄福管理区，1999年起称黄福村委会。[1]
近年的荣誉：2021年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予的2021年广东省卫生村称号。[1]
