下木村在枫朗镇东南部，设20个村民小组，在册468户、2538人，耕地923亩，主要种水稻。[1]
它与上木村原是一体的木窖村：传说古时村周树木密布，中间如窖，后分上、下两段，此处在下段，故名下木。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明朝正统年间，先人从福建宁化迁来建村，俗称木窖村。清康熙三年（1664年）的「木窖乡之难」中，村民因触犯总兵吴六奇而几乎被杀尽，吴六奇将「木窖」改名「沐教」。[2]
民国称沐教乡，1952年称下木乡，1958年10月成枫朗公社沐教大队，1963年分出下沐大队，1973年改属双溪公社；1980年复名下木，1986年12月起称双溪乡下木村委会，1998年复设村民委员会，2003年随双溪镇并入枫朗镇。[2]
2021年12月，下木村获广东省爱国卫生委员会授予的「2021年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
