佐坑村是惠东县宝口镇辖下的行政村，因位于乌禽嶂山脉左侧的山坑，最初称左坑村，后「佐」「左」谐音，改作佐坑[1]。2023年11月入选广东「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村，2024年4月又列入「广东省第一批乡村振兴示范村」创建名单[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
按时间由近及远，马山镇于2005年12月并入宝口镇，佐坑村属宝口镇管辖；1999年名为佐坑村委会；1990年名为佐坑管理区；1987年3月改名佐坑村委；1984年名为佐坑乡；1963年2月划归高潭公社；1958年与五一大队合并，名为佐坑大队；1957年12月并入大和乡；1955年名为佐坑农业社；1951年12月改属第二十一区，名为佐坑小乡；1931年8月属惠阳县多祝第三区，名为佐坑乡；1870年，佐坑属升平社堡，名为左坑小村[2]。
