云塘村是莲都镇最东部的行政村，与怀集县相邻，距镇政府18公里，分设11个村民小组，居民826人，辖区18平方公里，是镇内人口最少的村。[1]
地名与沿革[edit]
1958年成立人民公社、设生产大队时沿用云塘之名。云塘原作「蕴塘」，因地处封开与怀集交界的山区、交通不便而得名，后因「蕴」字难写改作「云」。[1]1950年设乡民会，1953年改乡人民政府，1955年为低级社，1957年为高级社，1958年为生产大队，1987年改称村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
革命老区与经济[edit]
云塘在莲都镇仅此一处属革命老区；解放战争时期有游击队长期驻扎，是封开剿匪的根据地之一。[1]石桥浪村民小组是封开县海拔最高的村小组，附近有一座绵延十余里的大型水库。[1]耕地少，村民主要靠外出务工和采松脂为生。[1]2019年9月，该村名列2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
