东村是广东省茂名市信宜市北界镇西部的行政村，博雅地名网作「东村村」；村名与清代出过一名秀才有关。[1]
地名由来[edit]
据博雅地名网所载，清代村里出了一位名叫吴东圳的秀才，乡人以此为荣，把村子叫作东村。[1]
沿革[edit]
民国年间属六城南乡东村堡，建国之初编入六问上乡，序次为第十三村。1958年与平山并为东村大队，1961年分开，各自成立生产大队；1983年起设乡级政府，1987年起改设村民委员会，延续至今。[1]
经济[edit]
全村分22个村民小组，在册458户，总面积3平方公里（该站未注明年份）。种水稻，发展速生桉。[1]
