地名由来[edit]
这里过去种了许多根竹，连成一座大竹园，附近的人便称这地方为根竹园，村也以此为名[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
1961年公社化，随后成立大队，到1983年称根竹园乡，1986年起为农村管理区，1999年起为根竹园村民委员会，沿用至今[1]。
经济[edit]
据百度百科，村里种荔枝、北运菜、龙眼，并养殖禽畜和淡水鱼；2018年，城镇建设占用了村集体土地0.7922公顷；2022年开始建设美丽乡村；2023年村的经济总收入为94.8万元[2]。
荣誉[edit]
2021年12月，获「2021年广东省卫生村」称号[1]；2024年3月，被评为省级乡村治理示范村[2]；2026年1月，列入「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」[1]。
